Last Thursday the 28th, the local Charleston Green Drinks chapter held a field trip at the new HIE. All the "green" features of the hotel were discussed such as the reuse of rainwater from the roof for plant irrigation and the saline pool. They are hoping to become the first LEED certified hotel in the state of South Carolina. I was particularly proud as the people got to see my images on the walls of the guest rooms. We also raffled off a print of IOP Marshscape that hangs above the sofa in the suites. Ryan Ullrich from Goat Island won the print. In all, we had a crowd of over 70 folks including Rebecca O'Brien from the Sustainable Warehouse. Her recycling number turned out to be a #4.
